Nature Valley Bike Race
June 14, 2009
SCVAA is a local sponsor of the Nature Valley Bike Race.  Biking is a great youth & family activity.  The event supports Children's Hospital and it's a wonderful opportunity to learn about biking and meet world class riders.

Kristin Armstrong was here in June '08 and then went on to win Olympic gold in China.

Watch the riders compete on a challenging course right here in Stillwater.  Cheer them on as they fly down 3rd Street and pedal up Chilkoot Hill.

Visit the SCVAA booth in the rider's village, too.  We'll have give-aways for kids wearing any SCVAA t-shirt or cap.  We will need volunteers to run the booth. (we'll have a link to a description of tent volunteer opportunities and sign - up: 10:00 - 12:00, 12:00 - 2:00, 2:00 - 4:00 PM email - cycling@scvaa.org to sign-up please indicate time preference

There will be a free race open to all kids ages 12 and under.  Everyone "wins" a real bike racing medal.  The race is held between the pro women and pro men, when the crowds are at their peak.  There are no significant hills in the kid's course.  It goes from the corner of Chestnut/2nd to the parking lot at the foot of Chilkoot Hill (but NOT up Chilkoot).
